Description

Keith’s Trains Series™ (from the camera of Keith Lehman, a RR Series from 1-West Productions™), Title #125 SAGA OF EX-NKP/N&W NS MUNCIE, IN LINE 2011: The saga of the stored intermodal spine cars on the ex-NKP/N&W- now NS main for 4 years, & what their removal means. NS is currently rebuilding all the road crossings to the state line, & has built 3 new bridges. Rumor has it they will put in new ties & ribbon rail, & have run-through trains from Fostoria, OH- Ford Mixing Center Yard to Muncie, Indiana, & points west & south. This line cuts off the Chicago to Buffalo main line at Arcadia, OH, just west of Fostoria.

See on May 21, 2011 NS SD38 3807 go east of Portland, IN, & pick up 10 cars of 5-packer & 3-packer spine cars, & 2 89 foot flats for a total of 3,000 feet, & pull through town & the reverse curves, just east of the Salamonie River bridge & US 27 road crossing. NS track maintainer gave a more logical explanation: NS has put in 3 bridges, redoing all crossings, is going to put in new ties & welded rail only to Portland, IN, as the FRA has banned any shipments of ethanol out of Poet Blo-Refining’s Portland Plant, until the track is upgraded above the 10 MPH it is now.  No tank cars have been at the plant for 2- 3 years, as they have shipped all the Ethanol out by Truck. Will NS run through trains, or just fix it up to be able to haul ethanol and operate it themselves? Time will tell. See the pulling of the last cars, 6000 feet at the IN/Ohio state line. 3 & 8/2011
